What is your role at PETA and what drives you to do what you do?
I’m a Learning and Development Coach, and assessor, for Engineering training programmes. I support learners through progress Reviews, 1:1s and meeting with employers to help support their learning journey
What knowledge/experience do you draw upon for your role?
Teaching Resistant Materials, Technical drawing and Engineering Design gave me a good foundation of knowledge with regards to engineering principles, properties of materials and manufacturing processes whilst developing learner ability to produce ideas through technical drawing, and develop those ideas through producing specifications, Engineered drawings and production plans. All of which has provided invaluable knowledge to support learners in their Engineering training.
How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?
I believe good communication skills are essential, being able to communicate with a range of learners and employers every day. Also, organising and managing your own time to ensure the learners are supported, and individual needs are met, whilst balancing your own workload.
What are you passionate about outside of work?
I enjoy DIY and always have a project, or two, on the go! I also have two active daughters, so I enjoy days out and keeping them busy.
