An Apprenticeship is a nationally recognised training programme which is predominantly work-based and can be used to train both new and existing employees for which funding is available from the Education and Skills Funding Agency.
At PETA, we have over 45 years of experience of delivering successful Apprenticeship training.
We work extensively with employers to source, pre-select, mentor and train young adults entering the world of work via an Apprenticeship and have many employers who recruit year on year recognising the importance of keeping the skills levels fresh throughout their business for now and the future.
Apprenticeships are now available in more roles than ever in a wide range of industry sectors so all employers can now benefit from a cost-effective, rewarding and beneficial route to recruiting and developing staff.
PETA has been praised as an example of good practice in Apprenticeship training by Ofsted. The video below is introduced by Steven Tucker, Her Majesty's Inspector and includes interviews with employers and Apprentices.

“The Apprenticeship scheme was an opportunity to employ someone who would spend time with each department, gain a broad understanding of the business allowing this young person to grow and adapt into the company’s culture and be an asset to the team already in place. PETA has been very supportive with the recruitment process. PETA took on board the company’s requirements and was able to provide suitable candidates to the interview.”
Gordon Mackenzie, Quality Manager, Gary Griffin, Manufacturing Director, SMC
“The results speak for themselves and the partnership with PETA Apprenticeships has been very successful. PETA monitors and supports the training which allows us to focus on the job here at ENL.”
Rene Slade, Engineering Manager, ENL
“PETA makes the Apprenticeship process very easy whilst also customising the training to meet our requirements.”
Luke Sibley, Supply Superintendent, Portsmouth Water
“We would happily recommend PETA and the Apprenticeship route to other schools, colleges and organisations. We had tried to recruit to a ICT Technician post through normal channels, but were not successful in getting a good field. Working with PETA, we were delighted with the high quality field of potential Apprentices that were forwarded to us. Eventually we interviewed six candidates and we could have appointed five, but unfortunately we only had one vacancy. Previously, I had concerns about the amount of bureaucracy involved in taking on an apprentice, but your team provided excellent support and guidance and the process of recruitment is very straightforward. At all times, the communication and advice from PETA has been first class.”
Matt Stedman, Deputy Head, Mayfield School
