Case study summary: Read more about how Corrigenda partnered with PETA to take on apprentices, and their feedback highlights the positive impact on their teams.

Background:

Company Overview

Corrigenda is a leading facilities management provider delivering hard and soft FM services across the South of England. We support a wide range of public and private sector clients and pride ourselves on providing safe, compliant and customer-focused solutions. With a growing workforce of skilled engineers, supervisors and support staff, we place a strong emphasis on developing talent and investing in the future of our industry.

What motivated your business to invest in an apprentice?

As a business, we recognise that developing our own talent pipeline is essential. Apprenticeships allow us to bring in individuals at the start of their careers, shape their skills around the needs of the organisation, and support them as they grow. We also see apprenticeships as a way of contributing to the wider sector by helping address the ongoing skills shortage within engineering and FM.

What impact has your apprentice had on your business?

Our apprentices bring enthusiasm, new ideas and a willingness to learn. They quickly become valued members of their teams and help strengthen our succession planning. Managers often comment that apprentices help lift morale, improve knowledge-sharing, and provide much-needed support across busy operational areas. In the long term, apprenticeships help us retain talent, reduce recruitment gaps and build a workforce that truly understands Corrigenda’s values and standards.

What has surprised you most about working with an apprentice?

We have been consistently impressed by how quickly apprentices adapt to the workplace. They demonstrate professionalism, curiosity and resilience from an early stage. Many of them develop strong communication and problem-solving skills far sooner than expected. What has really stood out is how naturally they’ve embraced our culture: working safely, supporting their colleagues, and showing real pride in their work from day one.

What advice would you give to other companies considering taking on an apprentice?

Invest the right time at the start. Clear expectations, structured support and a good mentor make all the difference. If you put the effort into guiding an apprentice, the return is significant. You can build long term capability, genuine loyalty and a future ready workforce. Apprenticeships work best when employers view them as part of their workforce strategy rather than simply an extra pair of hands.

How has your experience been with working with PETA and throughout the apprenticeship process?

Our experience with PETA has been consistently positive. Communication is strong, progress reviews are timely, and support for both the apprentice and the employer is excellent. PETA provides clear guidance at every stage, and the training is always aligned to industry standards. Their team is proactive, approachable and genuinely invested in the success of each apprentice.
