PETA Partners With Mabway and BAE Saudi Arabia for Engineering Training Programme

Article summary: PETA is proud to announce the launch of a bespoke engineering training programme in collaboration with Mabway and BAE Saudi Arabia. This partnership builds on a relationship that began pre-pandemic, where we first provided educational training for BAE’s Saudi Arabian employees in 2019.

Despite the disruption caused by COVID-19, our commitment to the educational outcomes of the delegates remained a priority. This left a lasting impression on both Mabway and BAE Saudi Arabia, leading them to re-engage with us in the autumn of 2023. Recognising the impact of our previous training, BAE Saudi Arabia, through Mabway, contacted PETA to develop a new, tailored programme for their engineers.

The programme is a comprehensive training initiative designed to address the evolving needs of BAE’s engineering workforce. With qualifications and industry standards having changed since the initial programme, PETA undertook an extensive three-month mapping process to ensure that the curriculum precisely met BAE’s requirements.

The programme will train 8 Saudi Arabian nationals, all employees of BAE Saudi Arabia, in a range of disciplines including Level 2 and 3 Engineering Manufacturing, IOSH Managing Safely, Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, Confined Space and Risk Assessment training, and Abrasive Wheels training. The curriculum is designed to offer a blend of theoretical knowledge and practical application, ensuring the students can successfully apply their new knowledge and skills upon returning to their employer after completion of the programme.

BAE Saudi Arabia directors have visited PETA’s facilities to engage with tutors and review the programme’s content and delivery scope. They have expressed high praise for our practical education approach, particularly our ability to flexibly transition between classroom learning and hands-on experience.

The training will not only provide the delegates with an extensive understanding of engineering principles but also offer a unique cultural experience as they spend time being educated in the UK. The programme will take them from foundational skills, such as basic metalwork, to more advanced engineering concepts, resulting in qualifications comparable to A-levels or BTEC standards.

We look forward to welcoming the students and are excited to continue our partnership with Mabway and BAE Saudi Arabia, delivering training that has an impact not just locally, but on an international scale.
