Summary: For International Accounting Day, we spoke to our first cohort of AAT finance apprentices to find out how their programmes have helped their growth and career development.
James - Mipa Paints
How has the finance apprenticeship helped you in your professional development?
I feel that the finance apprenticeship has helped me massively in my role and professional development. I believe I have grown a lot in the year I have been at PETA completing my AAT and now feel like much more of an asset to my company. It has been very beneficial being able to take what I have learnt whilst doing my AAT2 and applying this in my day-to-day role. I have really enjoyed working day to day, whilst attending PETA one day a week to obtain the finance knowledge. My company Mipa Paints have been giving me pieces of work which relate to what I have learnt at PETA that week.
What progress have you seen in yourself from when you started, up to now?
I have seen a huge amount of progress from when I started up until now. The content that I have learnt on my apprenticeship has benefitted me within my workplace and made me much more confident within my role. I have developed a much stronger knowledge on accounting and finance overall. I now feel extremely confident talking and engaging with customers over their phones about their queries relation to finance.
What's next and what do you hope to achieve?
I am currently waiting on my structured interview results to complete my level 2. Once I have these results, I will look forward to starting my AAT3 and expanding my knowledge of finance, eventually looking to complete my AAT4 once I pass level 3 and going on to have a successful career. I really enjoy working at my company who give me the best platform to go ahead and achieve what I want to achieve in the future.
