Following ongoing business success and growth, the PETA health and safety team are now looking for an Advisor/Consultant to join them. This role will primarily be based at our prestigious training facility in Cosham, however, there will be the requirement for travel to client sites and the opportunity for remote working on occasion.

This role could be offered on a full time (Monday to Friday) or part time (3 days per week) contract.

As our newest Health & Safety  Advisor/Consultant, you will report into our experienced H&S Manager and be supported by our team of highly experienced and skilled Trainers and administration staff.

What will I be responsible for?

As a Health & Safety Advisor/consultant, you will be responsible for delivering a specialist and professional service in respect of advice, guidance, training, and practical assistance on all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety. Training delivery will see you assisting customers with their health and safety training requirements with courses ranging from First Aid through to the NEBOSH General Certificate, and many more.  Your role will also include:

  • Designing / delivering a range of health, safety and environmental related courses, seminars, and briefings
  • Conducting the assessment and marking of delegate course work for programmes related to regulated outcomes (i.e. IOSH/NEBOSH, Qualsafe).
  • Attending client meetings, to scope their specific training requirements, producing written proposals that offer tailored solutions appropriate to their business needs.
  • Conducting a range of Advisory and Consultancy projects

Whilst your primary purpose is in training and education, at times you will be working directly with employers to offer guidance and interpretation of health and safety legislation. Your advice will need to support business leaders and give them clarity on what can sometimes be a confusing area.

The job holder is responsible for providing a specialist service of a professional standard that meets the requirements of customers (these being member/non-member companies and internal PETA managers and staff), in respect of advice, guidance, training and practical assistance on all aspects of Occupational Health and Safety.

What will I need to succeed?

To be successful as our newest Health & Safety  Advisor/Consultant, passion, attitude, and enthusiasm will be key. Experience of delivering classroom based and virtual training will also be crucial to your success.

You will need to be able to engage effectively with customers from a broad range of industries and deliver training sessions in a way that positively influences the development of a safety culture. Alongside your proven experience as a Trainer, you will also have the following qualifications / accreditations:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate. 
  • Practical experience in the design and delivery of training, a teaching (PTLLS or equivalent) qualification
  • Environmental qualification,
  • Membership of IOSH at either Graduate or Chartered status would be advantageous.

Your leave entitlement is 34 days which includes 8 public holidays (Pro rata for part time working).  Annual leave will increase dependent on length of service rising to 38 days including 8 bank holidays.

Non-contributory Death in Service life assurance – up to four times annual salary payable

Scottish Widows Pension -

The company operates a pension auto enrolment scheme through Scottish Widows.  This is a pension salary sacrifice scheme whereby employees are automatically enrolled after the first three months of their employment.  Currently contributions are 4% from the employee and 4% from the employer.  The National Insurance saving on salary sacrifice that the company would normally benefit from is also paid into the employee’s pension.  This is currently 13% calculated on the salary sacrifice.
