What led you to work for PETA?

I started my career as a fitter/turner apprentice after finishing school. I have been involved in engineering apprenticeships for over 15 years now, both in industry and in a college environment. I ran a very successful apprenticeship scheme for the Ministry of Defence for 10 years, during which time I was named South East, Thames Valley and Solent Apprenticeship Champion of the Year in 2015, before working for numerous colleges in the area.

PETA is a very respected training provider and when the opportunity came, I was very keen to join the team.

What is your role at PETA and what drives you to do what you do?

I am the Lead Learning & Development coach for Engineering training. I am responsible for managing a team of L&D coaches who visit the apprentices in the workplace to monitor their learning through progress reviews as well as assess their competence against qualifications related to their apprenticeship standard.

What knowledge or experience do you draw upon for your role?

I am a fully qualified NVQ assessor and internal quality assurer, with 15 years' experience of delivering both apprenticeship frameworks and standards in all engineering disciplines. I am HND qualified in mechanical engineering as well as having experience in the delivery of qualification in business administration, management and training.

How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?

I always approach my role with enthusiasm and motivation, I always want to ensure my team are motivated to achieve their goals as well as widening the knowledge and skills through training and development.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family, watching my children achieve their goals and enjoy their lives.
