International Women in Engineering Day 2023

Article summary: Celebrated on June 23rd each year, INWED serves as a powerful platform to recognize the invaluable role that women play in shaping the world through innovation, creativity, and technical expertise.

Women in engineering have overcome numerous barriers and stereotypes to make their mark in a traditionally male-dominated profession. Their achievements and accomplishments inspire future generations of aspiring engineers, demonstrating that gender should never limit potential. International Women in Engineering Day not only celebrates their achievements but also emphasizes the importance of diversity and inclusion in engineering.

This day provides an opportunity to acknowledge and promote the accomplishments of women engineers, showcasing their groundbreaking projects, inventions, and discoveries. By promoting diversity and equality, we can create a more inclusive industry that benefits from the diverse perspectives and talents of all engineers, regardless of their gender.

On International Women in Engineering Day, let us celebrate the trailblazing women who have paved the way for future generations, and strive to create a world where women are fully represented and supported in the engineering profession. Through recognition, encouragement, and equal opportunities, we can inspire and empower more women to embark on exciting engineering careers and continue to shape our industry, and wider society, for the better.

In addition to celebrating the achievements of women in engineering on International Women in Engineering Day, we proudly highlight the outstanding accomplishments of Megan Newton, our Apprentice of the Year 2023. As an engineering apprentice, Megan has demonstrated exceptional commitment to her apprenticeship, particularly as a woman in STEM, and we are immensely proud of her.

We would also like to recognise Amy Fisher, who was highly commended in our Engineering Apprentice of the Year category, and all our other female apprentices whose contributions to the field will continue to inspire the next generation of women in engineering.
