Get ready for our Apprentice and Employer of the Year Awards 2023!

Article summary: The date has been set and the venue booked for our prestigious Apprentice and Employer of the Year Awards 2023 - Friday 16 June at the Portsmouth Guildhall! Nominations will be invited in the New Year so why not take some time now to consider the possibilities?

Employers should consider which of their apprentices have excelled, whilst also considering whether, as an employer, they’ve gone above and beyond to support their apprentice(s) on their programme.

Nominations for the apprentice awards will initially be made by PETA’s learning and development coaches, who will work in partnership with the apprentices’ employers to complete the application form together for submission. Nominated apprentices will be those who the coaches and employers believe have exceeded expectations.

The six apprentice awards comprise:

  • Business Apprentice of the Year

  • ICT Apprentice of the Year

  • Management Apprentice of the Year (x2)

  • Engineering Apprentice of the Year

  • Overall Apprentice of the Year

For the business award categories, companies will nominate themselves by selecting the category they believe applies to them and completing the application, giving evidence where requested.

The five business awards are:

  • Best Apprenticeship Employer Award (SMEs - up to 250 employees)

  • Best Apprenticeship Employer Award (Corporates - over 250 employees)

  • Rising Star Award (An employee who was previously an apprentice and has progressed and excelled through the organisation)

  • Mentor of the Year Award (An employee who has gone above and beyond to support an apprentice.)

  • New for this year - an award for a PETA employee who is the apprentices’ choice as a super trainer/mentor and coach

The evening itself will commence with drinks, followed by a three-course dinner, with the guest speaker and award presentations after the meal. Winners will receive certificates and trophies to mark their achievement.

We have an inspirational guest speaker booked for the event - Alex Staniforth - a record-breaking adventurer, international motivational speaker, ultra-runner, author of two books and founder of mental health charity Mind Over Mountains. He’s an expert in overcoming challenges, having survived the two biggest disasters in Mount Everest history as a teenager, including the 2015 Nepal earthquake. His biggest challenges have been much closer to home, suffering with epilepsy, stammering, bullying and mental ill health since childhood.

We’ll shortly be offering businesses the opportunity to book their places to join us for an evening of celebration of skills so watch this space!
