Katrina Parsonage

Business Development Manager

"As their Business Development Manager, they get the real me who will always be suitably open & honest, and go above & beyond to help them achieve their training goals."

What led you to work for PETA?

I come from a 20-year sales & marketing call centre background which has ranged from Account Executive to Senior Client Director. My background has always been aggressive, fast-paced, target driven work, so I needed something that could make a difference over just lead generation. PETA is the perfect combination of REAL work that makes a difference in a beautifully calm & professional atmosphere that's literally good for my mental wellbeing.

What is your role at PETA and what drives you to what you do?

My role here at PETA is Business Development Manager & I am here to engage & connect with a multitude of companies to promote the PETA brand in the form of courses & apprenticeships.

What knowledge or experience do you draw upon for your role?

My key skill is being a consummate professional when it comes to being communicative. Also, to be able to multi-task & be the kind of Business Development Manager that is warm & engaging as well as focus driven.

I draw on experience from builders with their own business to CEOs of large corporations who over the years have taught me how to be my professional best. I'm a great believer that having the right manager & team working with me creates great results.

How do you approach your role on a day-to-day basis? What skills are required?

The skills required for my job are to be open & professional with my clients, being computer literate really helps when it comes to CRM systems I use & feedback to my line manager is key to my progress as he will advise me on next steps when needed.

Being able to multitask & adapt is key to the success of managing what I do & my clients know that when they have been assigned me as their Business Development Manager, they get the real me who will always be suitably open & honest, and go above & beyond to help them achieve their training goals.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I am highly passionate about living your best life. I have family all over the south of the UK & love to keep in touch with how their life is going. With 6 children I also have learned to be diverse & they teach & inspire me more than they know. I love being out & about in nature as it's a beautiful balance to working on a computer all day & I love to travel to Europe to get a taste of the kind of life I want to make my own one day with my other half.

What are your personal values, and what is important to you?

My personal values are quite old fashioned as I was adopted & raised by my grandparents. They include: respect – good manners – never judging a book by its cover – walk a mile in someone's shoes passing judgement & simply be nice as you never know what someone is going through.

Giving a minute of your time to just listen can save lives!
